These two filtering options ("organic traffic" in the left sidebar and "non-paid search traffic" in the advanced segments) give me slightly different numbers. Any idea why this would be the case?

Thanks Randy! It was my understanding that they were identical as well.

          My apologies!

After a check: My sites the organic search traffic and the non-paid search traffic are identical. I did this across 6 sites with both ppc and non-ppc as well as eCommerce and non-eCommerce.

Have you tried to change the date ranges and do comparisons? It would be easier to find out if it only happens over one period of time.

          Thanks,

          Randy

            Hi Randy,

Thanks for your response. I meant to distinguish between organic search traffic, which is located on the left sidebar, and the advanced segment "non-paid search traffic." I get different numbers for these two filters for certain clients, and I think it has to do with whether or not the client also does PPC.

I think your response distinguishes between the advanced segments "search traffic" and "non-paid search traffic," but that isn't what I meant.

"Search Traffic" includes visits from your search engine based ad campaigns, whereas "non-paid search traffic" does not.

                Segment G-news one box traffic

Hey Guys, This might be an over spoken topic but I havent been able to find a proper answer or solution for this issue. So far, the closest solution I came across is this article --> http://moz.com/blog/decoding-googles-referral-string-or-how-i-survived-secure-search I would like to know if there is any other solution for this matter. I have been searching the web for quite while now and I havent found a reasonable solution to segmenting the traffic from google news one box.News onebox traffic is counted as organic/google in GA.Is there a way to measure the traffic coming from the onebox news??Please note that news.google.com is not the same thing.I really appreciate any help.

How can I get the Google Analytics advanced segments beta?

Is there a way that I can get access to the Google Analytics new segmenting features? I've been reading about them for some months now, but still nothing in my GA account. Thank you in advance.

                Google Analytics & Omniture Discrepancies

I am seeing a significant difference between my traffic numbers in Google Analytics and Omniture (Omniture has significantly more).  I do not expect them to report exactly the same numbers but these are just too far off.  Any idea why that is, or which one I should trust more? Thanks!

Google Analytics - Cross Domain Tracking Goals

Hi guys, looking at the best way to organize this - Site 1 - Shoe Store - (Old site with analytic history - UA-12345-1) Site 2 -  Clothing Store - (Brand New UA-54321-1) Right now i have 2 separate GA Accounts for the sites. But i would like to track goals from Site 2 to Site 1.  For that i need to set up cross domain tracking. So i take it i would need to create another account under Site 1 - (UA-12345-2) and put that new code on Site 2? Or do the UA numbers have to be exact? example both 12345-1? In which case, i would need to set up 2 different profiles with filtering? Main concern is i want to keep separate data for both sites, espically if UA's will be the same. Trying to visualize - UA-12345-1 Profile 1Shoes/Master Profile 2 Shoes Profile 3 Clothes Or UA-12345-1 Shoes UA-12345-2 Clothes Thanks, Mike

Segmenting traffic from referring sites in GA

Most of our  traffic is from Referring sites, and in referring sites, job sites are sending most of the traffic. How can we segment traffic from job sites. There are about 40 such sites. We would like to receive a report which shows traffic excluding from these job sites.

How to measure number of visits from Google News coming from Google Universal Search (NOT referral coming directly coming from news.google.com) with google analyitcs

I'm running a news site, and I have a problem of accuratly measuring which traffic is REALLY coming from google news. I analyzed a lot of  individual articles and I come to the conclusion, that the visits, that come from the google news section in the universal search results are counted as "normal" search engine traffic in google analytics. So if you do a Google search for a topic that includes links from Google news, you don't get an accurate referral count. As an example, if you do a search for "eBay", incorporated into the page 1 search results you may also see Google news results as well.
If someone clicks on that Google news link that appears in Google search, it shows up in Google analytics as a referral from Google search, when it was actually from a Google news referral. I was already checking google analytics and google news help forums and searched SEO blogs for this. But I wasn't able to find a working solution. Can anybody help me out with this problem? Thanks so much, Matthias
