      We've just recently launched our website in Canada and our web crawler is showing some pages with "&Country=CA", even if the current page already includes Country=CA. Why is this and how would we go about resolving?

        What are the key considerations for implementing an effective International SEO strategy?

        Answer: Implementing a successful International SEO strategy involves several critical considerations:

        Market Research: Begin by researching and identifying target markets. Understand the local preferences, cultural nuances, and competitive landscape in each target country.

        Keyword Localization: Optimize your website for relevant keywords in the local language. Translate content effectively, keeping in mind linguistic variations and keyword preferences.

        Hreflang Tags: Use hreflang tags to signal to search engines the language and regional targeting of your webpages. This helps search engines deliver the appropriate content to users in different regions.

        Website Structure: Consider the website structure for international audiences. Options include subdirectories (example.com/fr/), subdomains (fr.example.com), or country-code top-level domains (example.fr). Choose the structure that aligns with your goals.

        Geotargeting: Set geotargeting preferences in Google Search Console to inform search engines about your target country or language.

        Content Localization: Beyond translation, create content that resonates with local audiences. Adapt product descriptions, images, and other content to match cultural preferences and expectations.

        Mobile Optimization: Ensure your website is mobile-friendly, as many international users access the web via mobile devices.

        Technical SEO: Address technical aspects like site speed, server location, and international CDN (Content Delivery Network) to improve user experience and search engine rankings.

        Local Link Building: Acquire high-quality, local backlinks from authoritative websites in the target country or region.

        User Experience (UX): Prioritize a seamless user experience, including fast-loading pages, clear navigation, and localized user interfaces.

        Local Reviews: Encourage and manage local reviews and ratings to build trust with local audiences.

        Compliance: Adhere to legal and regulatory requirements in each target country, including data privacy and e-commerce laws.

        Monitoring and Analytics: Continuously monitor your international SEO efforts using tools like Google Analytics and Google Search Console. Adjust strategies based on performance data.

        Multilingual Sitemaps: Create and submit XML sitemaps for different language versions of your website to help search engines index your content correctly.

        Cultural Sensitivity: Be culturally sensitive in your marketing and messaging to avoid inadvertent cultural missteps.

        Competitor Analysis: Analyze the strategies of local and global competitors in your target markets to gain insights into what works effectively.

        International SEO is an ongoing process that requires continuous refinement and adaptation. By considering these key factors and staying up-to-date with industry trends, you can improve your website's visibility and reach in international markets.

            International SEO (Search Engine Optimization) refers to the process of optimizing a website to rank well in search engine results pages (SERPs) for international audiences. It involves implementing various strategies and techniques to improve the visibility and reach of a website in different countries and languages.

            When conducting an international SEO strategy, several factors need to be considered. These include:

            Language: Adapting the website's content to cater to different languages spoken by the target audience.

            Localization: Customizing the website's content, images, and design elements to suit the cultural preferences and norms of each target market.

            Geotargeting: Optimizing the website to appear in search results specific to a particular country or region.

            International keyword research: Identifying relevant keywords for each target market and incorporating them strategically into the content.

            Hreflang tags: Implementing hreflang tags in the website's HTML code to indicate to search engines which language and region each page is intended for.

            Backlink building: Acquiring quality backlinks from reputable websites in the target country or language to improve the website's authority and visibility.

            Technical considerations: Ensuring the website's technical elements, like site structure, URLs, and mobile-friendliness, are optimized for international search engines.

            International SEO is crucial for businesses that want to expand their reach and target customers in different countries. It helps improve organic search rankings, increase visibility, drive targeted traffic, and ultimately, generate more leads and conversions from diverse international audiences.

              @nicole-nelson03 Your web crawler may be appending "&Country=CA" to pages due to URL handling or crawling settings. To resolve this, check for URL canonicalization issues, review crawler settings, and ensure proper handling of parameters in your website's code and configuration. Monitor and test to confirm the problem is resolved.

                SiteName Attribute Showing in Different Language in SERP

                site name international seo cctlds

                We are currently experiencing issues with our subdomain SiteName. Our parent company root domain is a Japanese language site, but we have an English subdomain that is for the United States primarily, and nearly rest of world for organic traffic. Our issue is that we have followed the guidelines here: https://developers.google.com/search/docs/appearance/site-names There was a large post on here with many responses including Googlers with issues others were having, but it has since been removed. Here is the code in place on our homepage: <script
                type="application/ld+json"> { "@context": "https://schema.org",
                "@type": "WebSite",
                "name": "Mescius Developer Tools",
                "alternateName": ["Mescius, inc.", "developer.mescius.com"],
                "url": "https://developer.mescius.com" }
                </script> Unfortunately this is what is appearing in the SERP. It is using the Japanese equivalent of our parent company. Screenshot 2024-02-23 at 3.37.55 PM.png Even though the relationship between root and subdomain should not be causing this, it seems like something is impacting this incorrect SiteName, and it is impacting CTR for the subdomain. Has anyone else experienced this and found a fix?

                Ecom: Hreflang start working - anything I can do about SERP currencies?

                international seo schema schema markup serp features hreflang tags

                Hello everyone, Finally, after moving our hreflang tags from our sitemap to our header HTML, Google seems to start displaying the correct URLs in the SERPs. From what I can see - Google folds URLs, so instead of indexing all pages, it only selects an English version of our site but displays a different URL based on our hreflang tags (not sure if that's good or bad or if I should work towards a full indexation). However - I am now facing the issue that the wrong currency will often be displayed in my SERPs. E.g. in Australia I may have Euros or in Canada we see British Pounds (i.e. /en-ca/* URL shows in SERPs but the /en-gb/* URL is actually indexed). Is there any way around this? I was searching for a solution and found some but seems like most don't exist anymore (https://moz.com/community/q/topic/53216/international-seo-ecommerce-rich-snippets/3) at least if I try and dig deeper into the source. What's the current recommendation?

                Question regarding international SEO

                international seo seo international google rankings

                Hi there, I have a question regarding international SEO and the APAC region in particular. We currently have a website extension .com and offer our content in English. However, we notice that our website hardly ranks in Google in the APAC region, while one of the main languages in that region is also English. I figure one way would be to set up .com/sg/ (or .com/au/ or .com/nz/), but then the content would still be in English. So wouldn't that be counted as duplicate content? Does anyone have experience in improving website rankings for various English-speaking countries, without creating duplicate content? Thanks in advance for your help!

                Should Hreflang x-default be on every page of every country for an International company?

                UPDATED 4/29/2019 4:33 PM I had made to many copy and pastes. Product pages are corrected Upon researching the hreflang x-default tag, I am getting some muddy results for implementation on an international company site  older results say just homepage or the country selector but…. My Question/Direction going forward for the International Site I am working on:  I believe I can to put x-default all the pages of every country and point it to the default language page for areas that are not covered with our current sites. Is this correct? From my internet reading, the x-default on every page is not truly necessary for Google but it will be valid implemented. My current site setup example:
                https://www.bluewidgets.com Redirects to https://www.bluewidgets.com/us/en (functions as US/Global) Example Countries w/ code Site:- 4 countries/directories US/Global, France, Spain Would the code sample below be correct? https://www.bluewidgets.com/us/en/ (functions as US/Global) US/Global Country Homepage - https://www.bluewidgets.com/us/en/ US/Global Country Product Page(s) This would be for all products - https://www.bluewidgets.com/us/en/whizzer-5001/ http://www.bluewidgets.com/us/en (functions for France) France Country Homepage - https://www.bluewidgets.com/fr/fr/ France Country Product Page(s) This would be for all products- https://www.bluewidgets.com/es/es/whizzer-5001 http://www.bluewidgets.com/us/en (functions as Spain) Spain Country Homepage - https://www.bluewidgets.com/es/es/ Spain Country Product Page(s) This would be for all products - https://www.bluewidgets.com/es/es/whizzer-5001 Thanks for the spot check Gravy

                International Site Merge

                Hello, I've never had to deal with an international site before, let alone a site merge. These are two large sites, we've got a few smaller old sites that are currently redirecting to the main site (UK). We are looking at moving all the sites to the .com domain. We are also currently not using SSL (on the main pages, we are on the checkout). We also have a m.domain.com site. Are there any good guides on what needs to be done? My current strategy would be: Convert site to SSL. Mobile site and desktop site must be on the same domain. Start link building to the .com domain now (weaker link profile currently) What's the best way of handling the domains and languages? We're currently using a .tv site for the UK and .com for the US. I was thinking, and please correct me if i'm wrong, that we move the US site from domain.com to domain.com/us/ and the domain.tv to domain.com/en/ Would I then reference these by the following: What would we then do with the canonicals? Would they just reference their "local" version? Any advice or articles to read would really be appreciated.

                Help: Newbie trying to optimize for several international domains

                We have three domain names co.nz, com.au and com.  We are very new and have been told to optimize for co.nz first before going into com.au and com.  Having said that, we have outsourced an seo company to optimize our co.nz site, however I would like to optimize the com.au and the com based on the information we currently receive for co.nz. Any suggestions on how to go about doing this? I looked at our competition and it seems they have the same content across all 3 domains, but they have changed the meta tags for each domain and that's about it. Any tips or ideas on how we could possibly do better? I know its early stages.... but as a newbie some advice around this would be great! Thanks

                Best URL for international domain

                Hello SEomozers We have a site with this structure: -www.xyz.com   US customers, limited content in12 languages, -global.xyz.com  for International customers, full content in 12 languages. The global site is the hub for the rest of the world.  We are creating a new site from scratch and want to consolidate the two domains in one by using subfolders, such as: www.xyz.com  for USA,  www.wyz.com/jp   for US customers reading in japanese and www.xyz.com/int-jp  for  customers from Japan (international - will set geo location with webmastertool) What do you think would be the best naming convention for the international?
                www.xyz.com/int-jp  or
                www.xyz.com/eu-jp or
                www.xyz.com/eu/jp or
                www.xyz.com/ ...any other suggestions?

                Google Webmaster Tools - International SEO Geo-Targeting site with Worldwide rankings

                I have a client who already has rankings in the US & internationally. The site is broken down like this: url.com (main site with USA & International Rankings) url.com/de url.com/de-english url.com/ng url.com/au url.com/ch url.com/ch-french url.com/etc Each folder has it's own sitmap & relative content for it's respective country. I am reading in google webmaster tools > site config > settings, the option under 'Learn More': "If you don't want your site associated with any location, select Unlisted." If I want to keep my client's international rankings the way it currently is on url.com, do NOT geo target to United States? So I select unlisted, right? Would I use geo targeting on the url.com/de, url.com/de-english, url.com/ng, url.com/au and so on?
