          Hi Redfishking,

This question gets asked a lot here. If you go to http://www.seomoz.org/q/blog-on-subdomain-vs-subdirectory-best-practices you'll see a number of links pointing to previous questions.

Sub directory is best - those links will explain why (and perhaps put your mind at rest as to why the members of SEOmoz suggest that).

          Thanks,
          Brad

I would recommend directory as you will have regular content updating your site and keeping it fresh. Subdomain will be treated as entirely new website.

It really is a matter of what you want to accomplish as to whether you need a subdomain blog. or a sub directory .com/blog. For the purpose of your "main" site, typically you want to use directories as sub domains are treated as their own domain. So, links to them will only be to them and those to a sub directory will pass juice on.

There are reasons to want to have a sub domain (sometimes with geo location, etc), but if you don't really need a sub domain its better IMO to use directory.

                Hope this clarifies.

                  Website Titles in Google

I currently have a Wordpress platform website and previously I noticed that when I optimized my pages, if I indicated what I wanted my page names to be (through an application like SEO Yoast) that most times, the keyword would show up exactly how I had it typed in. Recently I have noticed that the title of my website is showing in my page titles too. So for example: Before: Shoe Stores Windsor - XYZ Company Now: XYZ Company | Shoe Stores Windsor - XYZ Company In SEO practices, I know it's most often best to have the keyword you would like as close to the front of your title tag, but now this recent search adds my website title first. Plus this also seems to be making my titles longer. I know Google ultimately has the 'final say' in a page title and I have ensured that I have the "rewrite titles/descriptions option" check in Wordpress to allow me to overwrite titles, but I am hoping someone can possibly provide me with a tip or trick to avoid this in search rankings. I think it's important to have the name of my site entered through Wordpress so that any pages that I have no optimized default to the page name and site name, but the ones I have optimized seem to be showing differently all of a sudden. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

How often is your domain authority updated?

I can't seem to figure out how often our domain authority is updated - it seems random, do you know typically when this happens? Thanks!

Looking for some basic guidelines to start my optmization

Hello Everyone. I recently started getting interested in SEO. I'm the owner os a small mens underwear company we limited staff, limited resources, etc. well I'm sure most of you know the drill. I have read countless articles, guides, starting with the ones here at Moz but when it comes to actually starting to fix the problems I have I have NO IDEA where to start. it is discouraging and to be honest frighting. I know right now my competitors are getting ahead of my while I just stare at my screen thinking where do I start? Do I fix loading speed?Do I repalce the entire content of my site? mostly category texts, product descriptions, do I add Atl text to all my images?
how do I even start building links when it seem the only strategy is to send an email to a related site to link to us? any way. Most of you here are SEO experts and small business owners I would greatly appreciate if you point me in teh right direction, like a 1, 2 ,3 ....type of thing. I might be asking to much but after thinking about it I decided to post something here.

Should sub domain blog have www or non www

My main site has htaccess rewrite condition to force www. I just added a blog on sub domain and have it www.blog.domain.com Is this setup correctly or should it be http://blog.domain.com or does it make a difference? A colleague just pointed that out and said it should be non www for blog or any sub domains. Thanks for any clarification.

Tools for seaching for keyword rich domains

Could I get some recommendations please for tools that will help me find keyword rich domains in my space. Also I did try out the Go Daddy bulk domain checker (just copy and paste domains into box) but it doesn't let me bulk search .co.uk domains. Any ways around that one?

What's the best strategy for reducing the number of links on a blog post?

I'd like to optimize my blog better for search.  The first reccomendation I got from my SEOMoz Pro Campaign Crawl was that I needed to reduce the number of links per page on my site. I have lots of links from navigational items in the sidebar that people do click on. I'd really like to keep some or all of the tags and categories I list. Comments are another issue.  Most of our posts get about 10 comments.  However, our best posts get 50-100 comments.  Those comments create a lot of links. I was planning on attempting to reduce the number of links using javascript but I guess Google understands javascript now.  I may still do this b/c our pages are huge and some progressive rendering would likely help the user experience. Can you use javascript (ajax or otherwise) to limit the number of links on your page in a way that helps your SEO efforts?  Any specific suggestions for reducing links that come from comments and navigational items? How much will reducing the number of links on a given page help with SEO?  Any simple way to estimate or quantify this without diving in? Thanks in advance!
