      Hello Everyone,

I'm getting redirect chains error on the home page URL:
http://ebitdacatalyst.com in Wordpress. I've checked my redirection list in the plugin, and haven't found any redirections on http://ebitdacatalyst.com. Can anyone please help me in solving this issue? I don't know where from it's coming.

Redirect chains can occur when there are multiple redirects configured for a single URL, leading to a series of redirects before reaching the final destination. This can sometimes cause issues such as slower page loading times or SEO penalties.

To troubleshoot and resolve the redirect chains error on your WordPress website, you can follow these steps:

Check .htaccess file: Sometimes, redirects are configured directly in the .htaccess file of your website. You can access this file via FTP or File Manager in your web hosting control panel. Look for any redirect rules and make sure there are no unnecessary or conflicting redirects.

WordPress Plugins: While you've checked the redirection list in your plugin, it's worth double-checking all installed plugins for any that might be causing unwanted redirects. Deactivate plugins one by one and test to see if the issue resolves.

Theme Functions: Some WordPress themes may have custom functions that handle redirects. Review your theme's functions.php file for any redirect-related code and ensure it's configured correctly.

Check WordPress Settings: In your WordPress dashboard, navigate to Settings > General and ensure that the WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL) fields are correctly set to

Browser Cache: Clear your browser cache or try accessing your website in a different browser to ensure the redirect issue isn't caused by cached redirects.

SEO Plugins: If you're using an SEO plugin like Yoast SEO or Rank Math, check their settings for any configured redirects and ensure they're set up correctly.

Server Configuration: Sometimes, redirects can be configured at the server level. If you have access to server configuration files (such as Apache's httpd.conf), check for any redirects configured there.

Search for Hardcoded URLs: Review your website's content and template files for any hardcoded URLs that might be causing unintentional redirects.

WordPress Debugging: Enable WordPress debugging to see if any errors related to redirects are being logged. You can do this by adding the following line to your wp-config.php file:

                  sql
                  Copy code
                  define( 'WP_DEBUG', true );
Consult with a Developer: If you're unable to identify the cause of the redirect chains or if you're uncomfortable making changes to your website's code, consider consulting with a WordPress developer or technical support for further assistance.

By systematically checking these potential sources of redirects, you should be able to identify and resolve the redirect chains error on your WordPress website.

                  Best Regards,
                  Danial Vettori.

When you redirect too many times in a row, Google stops following your redirects, which is known as a redirect chain. These are what are known as networked web difficulties that affect users' experiences, cause problems for search engines, and affect your page rankings. It's important to address redirect chains as soon as possible because they might affect both SEO and site performance. This problem reports URLs that lead to multiple redirections.

Unsolved Capturing Source Dynamically for UTM Parameters

technical seo google analytics utm parameters

Does anyone have a tutorial on how to dynamically capture the referring source to be populated in UTM parameters for Google Analytics? We want to syndicate content and be able to see all of the websites that provided referral traffic for this specific objective. We want to set a specific utm_medium and utm_campaign but have the utm_source be dynamic and capture the referring website. If we set a permanent utm_source, it would appear the same for all incoming traffic. Thanks in advance!

Optimization expert suggesting we add Canonical tag to every page on site

                      canonical technical seo

Hi guys, We're currently launching a new page, and we have an optimization and technical SEO expert (highly rated on Upwork, very intelligent, has solved complicated issues in the past and improved our Core Web Vitals greatly) suggesting we put canonical tags on every page of site, pointing to itself (other than the case of where canonicals should point to other page, we have those listed separately. Do you guys see a benefit to this? Could it harm us? He says large retailers do this, couldn't quite glean the benefit from it though. Current site ranks well and isn't set up like this. Any insight would be much appreciated! Thanks!

                      Unsolved Have we been penalised?

technical seo rankings google search console algorithm update

Hey Community, We need help! Have we been penalised, or is there some technical SEO issue that is stopping our service pages from being properly read? Website: www.digitalnext.com.au In July 2021, we suffered a huge drop in coverage for both short and longtail keywords. We thought that this could have been because of the link spam, core web vitals or core update around that time period. SEMRush: https://gyazo.com/d85bd2541abd7c5ed2e33edecc62854c
GSC: https://gyazo.com/c1d689aff3506d5d4194848e625af6ec There is no manual action within GSC and we have historically ranked page 1 for super competitive keywords. After waiting some time thinking it was an error, we have then have taken the following actions: Launched new website. Rewrote all page content (except blog posts). Ensured each page passes core web vitals. Submitted a backlink detox. Removed a website that was spoofing our old one. Introduced strong pillar and cluster internal link structure. After 3 months of the new website, none of our core terms has come back and we are struggling for visibility. We still rank for some super long-tail keywords but this is the lowest amount of visibility we have had in over 5 years. Every time we launch a blog post it does rank for competitive keywords, yet the old keywords are still completely missing. It almost feels like any URLs that used to rank for core terms are being penalised. So, I am wondering whether this is a penalisation (and what algorithm), or, there is something wrong with the structure of our service pages for them to not rank. Look forward to hearing from you
                      Steven

Unsolved Almost every new page become Discovered - currently not indexed

                      google search console technical seo

Almost every new page that I create becomes Discovered - currently not indexed. It started a couple of months ago, before that all pages were indexed within a couple of weeks. Now there are pages that have not been indexed since the beginning of September. From a technical point of view, the pages are fine and acceptable for a Google bot. The pages are in the sitemap and have content. Basically, these are texts of 1000+ or 2000+ words. I've tried adding new content to pages and even transferring content to a new page with a different url. But in this way, I managed to index only a couple of pages. Has anyone encountered a similar problem?
Could it be that until September of this year, I hadn't added new content to the site for several months?
Please help, I am already losing my heart.

Hi, We've seen recently in Search Console Coverage report that website is generating long path URLs that we actually don't have.

We recently updated a large guide that takes the place of the original. The original has some nice organic traffic to it and I don't want to risk losing it. Should I 301 redirect to the new version, or update all the info directly on the original page?

We don't have a lot of content that garners much non-branded organic, so this is something I don't want to risk losing. We do not have a whole lot of external links into the page either.

On my crawl report from SEOmoz, I have a lot of Temporary Redirects listed. The referring site is a product category page, but the URL listed is part of a shopping cart. For example: | http://www.adagiowaterfeatures.com/cart.php?action=add&product_id=496 | Tested true for a temporary redirect referred by this url: | http://www.adagiowaterfeatures.com/categories.php?category=Free-Standing-Water-Features/Harmony-River-Collection | Why does this occur and what can I do about it?

                      Old pages

I have a site where I have 5,000 new products each year, I never waned to deleted the old pages due to links pointing to them and keywords.  But I now have 20,000 plus pages, does having that many pages spread out my link juice or does it effect me in any other ways over having a site with 5,000 pages or should I keep not deleting old pages so I dont loose any links? Along with that I currently do not link to my old pages from my site so Im guessing google does not get to them very often if at all, if you agree to still keep them should I link to them somewhere? Because the products are not that simiiar and they do bring added value I dont think canonical would work here
