      Hello, All,

In April, two months ago, we caught a hack on a client's website. It created about 40 pages in what looked to be a black hat link tactic. We removed the pages, resubmitted the sitemap.xml (it reprocessed) and ran it through screaming frog to confirm all the pages were gone, but the forty pages still show up in the search results for a site search. We have both the www. and non www. version of sites claimed and set a preference. Nothing is awry with the robots.text. We're not really sure what to do to resolve it. We asked Google to recrawl (fetch) the site. I'm not sure what's going on with it.

      The website's name is fortisitsolutions.com

The site search bringing up the pages from the hack is below.

      site:www.fortisitsolutions.com

      Any ideas?

It could be because of a large Google algorithm update or ranking flux; often, when the update has finished rolling out, then you might notice the difference in where the businesses ranks?

We sell garden offices, and we notice that the first page results on Google changes substantially during an algorithm update

Removing the pages will cause them to 404. Google will not instantly remove 404 pages, as sometimes website servers have issues and incorrectly return a 404 status on pages that are meant to be valid. As a result, Google will re-visit this page over a period of time and after seeing a repeated 404 is will remove it from its index.

The easiest option to speed this up, should be to use Google Search Console "Temporarily Hide" option in Google. https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/url-removal

Pages will disappear quickly after using this and my guess is it won't come back if it's still returning a 404 status. If it's easy for you, you could turn the 404s to 410 (forever gone).

Unique Pages with Thin Content vs. One Page with Lots of Content

Is there anyone who can give me a definitive answer on which of the following situations is preferable from an SEO standpoint for the services section of a website? 1. Many unique and targeted service pages with the primary keyword in the URL, Title tag and H1 - but with the tradeoff of having thin content on the page (i.e. 100 words of content or less). 2.  One large service page listing all services in the content. Primary keyword for URL, title tag and H1 would be something like "(company name) services" and each service would be in the H2 title. In this case, there is lots of content on the page. Yes, the ideal situation would be to beef up content for each unique pages, but we have found that this isn't always an option based on the amount of time a client has dedicated to a project.

            Fetch as Google

Are there any pros or cons with using Google fetch and submit? I realise Google will likely find it of its own accord in due course but I have found it may take a couple of weeks if at all. Fetch and submit seems to speed this process up, sometimes anyway.

Moz Crawl Shows Duplicate Content Which Doesn't Seem To Appear In Google?

Morning All, First post, be gentle! So I had Moz crawl our website with 2500 high priority issues of duplicate content, not good.  However if I just do a simple site:www.myurl.com in Google, I cannot see these duplicate pages....very odd. Here is an example....
            http://goo.gl/GXTE0I
http://goo.gl/dcAqdU So the same page has a different URL, Moz brings this up as an issue, I would agree with that.  However if I google both URL's in Google, they will both bring up the same page but with the original URL of http://goo.gl/zDzI7j ...in other words, two different URL's bring up the same indexed page in Google....weird I thought about using a wildcard in the robots.txt to disallow these duplicate pages with poor URL's....something like.... Disallow: /*display.php?product_id However, I read various posts that it might not help our issues?  Don't want to make things worse. On another note, my colleague paid for a "SEO service" and they just dumped 1000's of back-links to our website, of course that's come back to bite us in the behind.  Anyone have any recommendations for a good service to remove these back-links? Thanks in advance!!

Telling Google SERP's my correct currency.

Hi, I'm having a problem with Google SERP results showing my currency as USD, when it should be CAD. An example of a page with this problem is - http://www.absoluteautomation.ca/fgd400-sensaphone400-p/fgd400.htm - can anyone see where Google is getting USD from on there? I don't see it anywhere in the coding. Thanks in advance!

            Google Drop

I started using SEOMOZ due to a sudden and huge drop in Google for two main keywords (hair bows and baby headbands).  Our site (BloomingBows.com) has held a top three spot for years with these words and then in the last few months has dropped down on the first page and now they are completely off the charts.  Is there any insight as to why?  Also, we have been very active using the data from here in the last week or so to clean up and improve anything listed, but I am still seeing keywords drop into the 40 - 60 position and our traffic is drying up.  Starting to panic and wondering if I am missing something or going about this in the wrong way. ANY insight is appreciated at this point!!  Thank you!!

What URL Should I use in Google Place Page?

Alright, I have a client that has 1 website and 14 locations. We want to create place pages for each of their locations but my question is which URL should I put in the place page and why? I can put in the root domain into each place page, or should I put in the URL that lands on the actual location on the root. example: domain.com/location1 Thanks!

Why has only one page been crawled?

I went over the list of possible reasons, but I don't think any of them apply to the site in question: sarahhueniken.com. Any other reasons only one page would be crawled?
