  • Hello Moz, I was wondering if anyone knows how Moz goes about updating their OSE data?  I've been doing some link building that past couple of weeks, and I notice that the number of "just discovered" links will update every time I gain a new link, however, the "Linking domains" number doesn't (or maybe, rarely) update.  I've checked through the "Linking domains" list to see if the link is there, but none of the links I've just recently obtained have shown up under that metric. Does anyone have any insight on this or is anyone experiencing the same issue?  Thanks for reading!

  • Is there a way in my MOZ to compare how we rank against some of our competitors for "specific" keywords? I know in OSE I can perform a Link Metric comparison... but I want to actually do the same, but listing "keywords". Thank you

  • Dear Moz Community, I am trying to find a way to easily analyse a website (http://uk.chm-cbd.net) to determine the number of internal and external hyperlinks throughout the (roughly) 490 webpages within the site. It would also be extremely helpful to have a list of all the links with their url. Does anyone know of a tool, methodology to do this? If it requires a lot of programming then that does not help me very much as I am not very computer literate!! So a software to download or an online service would be very helpful. Open Site Explorer seems to be limited, such that I would have to do an analysis on each page within the website. BUT, if anyone knows how I can do using OSE, then please tell me. Thanks in advance to anyone who may be able to help Hugh

  • Finally, OSE is now like "integrated" in Moz! And it looks awesome. Not only from a design perspective, but also, I think all the login issues in that past I was having are now solved! Nicely done Moz!

  • It's been quite a few months since the last updates regarding HTTPS crawling of OpenSiteExplorer. https://seomoz.zendesk.com/entries/20770156-open-site-explorer-to-crawl-https http://moz.com/community/q/in-opensiteexplorer-why-is-https-not-an-option But, as the last update dates October 2013, is there any news in regards to the progress on this subjects? More and more sites are switching to full HTTPS and support for this has been asked and responded upon for over two years. Thanks for any updates.

  • FYI - it appears that if you have a responsive site that has blocks of text that are duplicated, but Hidden or Visible depending on the screen width, that On-Page Grader will count any keywords in that text twice. I have text shown in one location to Desktop users that needed to be re-located to a different part of the page for Tablet and Phone users to keep the layout nice. And my OP Grader keyword count doesn't match what I saw on the page doing Ctrl-F to find the keywords, unless you count the Hidden text. (not hidden like cloaking or some black hat thing - just not displayed on certain devices) I guess On Page Grader just reads the source code and ignores whether the text is hidden or visible. It would be nice if it read the code as if it was a Desktop device. (suggestion for Moz staff) Does anybody know if Google also ignores device dependent Hidden vs Visible areas???

  • So I was using Open Site Explorer to analyze my domain authority and page authority as can be seen here. My site has been covered by some press and in the article it actually links my site. Some of the articles can be seen on, here, here, and here. Any idea why none of these articles are detected as a linking domain to my site? Is there something that I am doing wrong?

  • Hi, the rest of my report seemed to process quickly, but now it's at 99,450,
it doesn't seem to be processing further. It's been about 12 hours since requesting the report, any ideas? Thanks!

  • I just looked up a site in Open Site Explorer. After putting in the site, I get a list of domains, links etc which is very useful. At the bottom is a note which I have pasted below. It mentions "24 links from no-indexed pages" and says we can't get any info on these. Is there a way to see what the 24 links are so I can investigate further?"Why does my number of inbounds links listed not match my total links count? The listed number may be slightly different because we only show 25 links per domain (so that you see a variety). Additionally you have 24 links from no-indexed pages. Unfortunately, we can't get info for those links."

  • My CSV reports are taking so long to generate, that I'm unable to deliver analysis that I need to deliver today. How can it take so long to create a CSV document for a report that took seconds to generate on screen? How can I justify my subscription for a product that doesn't deliver?  I do have to justify it.  I feel so let down.

  • A few weeks ago I started seeing instances of OSE not showing all the information when it was showing I was logged in while using Google Chrome. It would work, then not work and kept showing me the button to sign up for Moz Analytics even though I was logged in. I'm a Pro Member, which is confusing. Then I noticed that while logged in, I would be logged out somehow when trying to contribute to the Q&A's and it would bounce me back to the Moz Home page or show me the white Login button in the upper right. Again, in Chrome only. I was told by support to clean my cookies/cache and that works for maybe a few hours, but then would resort back to logging me out. It has become very annoying, and now can only work logged in from FireFox. Not a huge issue, but everything else I do all day is in Chrome. Is anyone else having this same issues? Any recommendations? Thanks in advance. - Patrick

  • I'm curious to know why Moz, YouTube, G+ and some other links are not showing the OSE link profile as NOFOLLOW or DOFOLLOW for our website whiteboardcreations.com? When doing analysis, we see a lot of companies YouTube pages with their NF link and G+ page links and even see a lot of the Moz community members with their Profile pages showing the NF link or the DF links. I'm confused as to why OSE is not picking up any of our links from those respective sites. Any thoughts? Thank you in advance. - Patrick

  • If a domain expires will it remain in OSE indefinitely and show external backlinks? Or at some point does the domain get removed from OSE?

  • Hi Mozzers, I've exported a few open site explorer queries and was surprised to find that only 25 results returned social stats even for some really large websites. Is that a limitation in the search or a bug? I want to filter everything by twitter shares, so having a complete set of data for that stat is super important. Thanks! Tony

  • If I enter 'abc.com' am I only getting results for 'abc.com' or will I get results for the internal pages of 'abc.com' as well (i.e. 'abc.com/page1.html)? There is a bit of a discrepancy between these results and inbound link results in semrush for example. Then again it seems whenever you use different tools to measure the same thing you get wildly varying results. How do you all deal with that?

  • I would like to know, how do I get a report with the TOTAL amount of my external followed links. When I look on "Link Metric" it shows me:  External Followed Links 2,951 But when I looked on Inbound links (only follow / only external), it shows me only 645. Why is that and how do I get the total from 2.951? Thanks

  • Hi All, Can anyone (preferably a Moz representative) explain why Domain Authority has been trending down on multiple domains? I suspect there is a new index in place? And / Or algo changes? This is making life very difficult for us as our client www.cleanawater.com.au has been working very hard to implement only the whitest of white SEO models.

  • Confused by the results displayed in Open Site Explorer. Want to know the Total Links into a site. As such typed in the site address and received the result 28 Total Links from 1 Root Domain. Filter Set to This Page. Therefore, changed the filter to **Pages on This Root Domain. **All other filters set to All (i.e. internal and external links). I would assume this should give me ALL LINKS coming into all pages. I received results of 79 Total Links from 28 root domains. Raven and other tools advise a Total number of links in excess of 2,000. External Backlinks 200+. I have experienced this problem on a number of sites over the past month, in what way am I interpreting the data incorrectly? Why is there such disparity? Please advise. Kind regards

  • Hi there, I have a quick question about how pages are ranked on the MOZ tool bar. If you view this page (with the MOZ tool bar showing on your browzer), it has strong metrics: http://www.bristol.gov.uk/page/leisure-and-culture/bristol-collection-venue-hire-0 However, when you click the 'Weddings' link a go one page further into the site, is has no metrics: http://www.bristol.gov.uk/page/leisure-and-culture/wedding-venue-hire Is this because the page hasn't been crawled? Getting a link here is still good?

  • I have attempted to use Open Site Explorer to attempt to see if the work I have been doing to earn new links is working and I cannot seem to find any new links.  I tried the "just Discovered" beta, but I think that relies on Twitter, which these links would not appear on.  How can I effectively monitor for new links (1 week or less in age) either using a Moz tool or an external tool that shows the date each link was discovered?

  • I've had folks explain to me before that OpenSiteExplorer is just an estimation, etc. but there are some fairly easy statistics that seem to be different and it makes me nervous that either its wrong or I'm doing something wrong.  As you can see in the image, moz isn't read social metrics correctly.  It actually used to be pretty spot on, but as you can see with Google+'s its off.  Maybe not a big deal right?  But for my clients new Moz Analytic print outs it makes somewhat of a difference.  Any help? • We have a new client with 8 sites that we would like to 301 to a new site. However, before doing so we want to make sure that the backlinks are not unnatural or harmful in any way. Using open site explorer (other than just looking at exact anchor text vs brand anchor text ratio) is there a way to determine low quality inbound sites linking in? or any type of links google will find manipulative?

  • I upgraded my account to Large on Sept, 21st from basic. On Oct 3 I raised a ticket to support stating that my account was not utilizing the full crawl. I was informed that Sam would make the change for me and I would see the change in the next crawl. I waited until the next crawl and nothing changed. I raised another ticket stating what took place in the first ticket and that the crawl limit was changed and that we were still having trouble crawling 50,000 pages, the site is 59,000 index-able pages. As part of the second ticket I indicated that I was also experiencing trouble with Moz Analytics only allowing data from Sept 9th to the 15th and I could not change dates. I received a response to the second ticket 27 hours later from David. David requested that I disconnect GA and reconnect it. I told him that I had already done this but that I would do it again. I also asked for a credit to my account because I had not been able to use what I was paying for. David responded stating that he would forward this to an engineer for a response, I waited until the 21st, I then raised another ticket. I immediately received a automated response and have not had anyone response to the third ticket nearly 5 days later. It saddens me to see that Moz has gone considerably down hill in their desire to furnish tools to SEO's that work. No one seems to care. As part of the cancellation process you are furnished a phone number to call for help. I called the number and after holding for 4-5 minutes I was asked to leave a voicemail which I did explaining my situation. No response yet. I was left with really nothing else to do other than finish the cancellation and chargeback all of the service charges since my upgrade. Sorry for the rant but hope this helps others.

  • For the past 3 months (if not more) I have been checking my sites stats on OSE and have noticed drastic decreases and increases in unique C-IP's, ranging from 600 to 1200. I have also noticed the PA & DA going up and down by 5 points. We have a talented team that work hard to market our business ethically with strong content and PR relationships, white-hat link building all the way, active social media and a dedicated on-site technical team. The data from MajesticSEO seems to be a lot more steady and consistent. Why is OSE showing drastic changes in 1 to 2 week intervals? Many thanks Ross

  • I'm using opensite explorer trying to explore who is linking to my clients site. In the main blue area it shows total links as 20, which I understand is to the specific page. In the Root Domain Metrics it shows 4,032 external links. Sub domain Metrics shows 1,973. How do I find out where the links are? I tried creating a advanced link report with the "Links that to" are checked off as "any page on this root domain" and only shows 91 of the links? What am I doing wrong or missing?

  • As above, really. I've crawled a new client's site to find the Moz crawler has identified a handful of 404 errors. The Moz crawler says these pages have '0 linking domains', and OSE has no data for these pages. So how are these pages being crawled by Moz and what should I advise my client?

  • Hello Folks, I am trying to check back links of one of my competitors through Open Site Explorer, but the results it is providing is not satisfactory. Competitor URL : goo.gl/xMXHk7 Results provided by OSE : Number of Internal Links : 23 Number of External Links : 100 While the external backlinks provided by other free tools are quite different and more in numbers.. and here I am paying to get accurate data.. Just wanted to confirm whether I am using this tool improperly, or any issue is going with this tool? C6JPxGE
